Welcome to my podcast, Quoth the Camser!
Quoth the Who Now?
The Camser – that’s me! My preferred nomenclature is Cams, but I’ve been called many names over the years, including Camuel, Zlot, Cedgery, Cob. The Camser is another one that I’ve always kind of liked. And I love EAP’s The Raven, so there we have it: Quoth the Camser.
What’s this all about then?
I guess it’s about bravery, about mental health, about therapy, about getting well. I’m well aware that it’s not the most compelling content in the world, probably even in the village, but it really helps.
I won’t go into details here as all that comes out in the talking. Most of the talking happens when I’m out with my two lovely dogs, a Basset called Clover and an Akita called Poppy.
I’ll just write a few words to give you an idea of what you’re getting into if you decide to listen.
Depression
I was first diagnosed with clinical depression in 1996. I’ve been on and off meds since then, mostly off, but in January 2019 I was prescribed once again.
Alcoholism & Drugs
I got sober in Luxembourg in 2005 by attending AA regularly. It worked. Thank God! I kept going with the prescription meds though until 2017. It’s madness I tell you.
I’ve also had my fair share of recreational drugs, not all of which I believe to be ‘bad’, in fact quite the opposite. MDMA and psilocybin are well known to be effective treatments for PTSD, a condition that I’ve come to understand during my walk-and-talks.
Therapy
It’s not all doom and gloom in my monologues. A lot comes to light about my achievements and my shifting perspective as a man approaching 50. Talking into the mic as I walk is such an incredible process for me and I have the feeling that this kind of honesty and authenticity has some real value for others out there who are experiencing similar feelings.
That’s why I started publishing them – to give me a sense of accountability; to learn not to worry about what others thing; and to give me a purpose other than just throwing this content away.
Self Employment
I’ve been self employed since I moved to Luxembourg in 2001. I talk a lot about business and productivity from the point of view of a one-man-business and family man. It’s not corporate, it’s more philosophical than that.
Guitars and Stationery
You’ll hear a lot about both of these things. They are the things that I love.
So, are you in?
Come and have a listen. There’s no real starting place as such. Jump in anywhere.
I look forward to your company!
